Janey Godley Calls Off Comedy Tour as She's Hospitalized With Ovarian Cancer

The Scottish comedienne apologizes to her fans after she has been forced to cancel her stand-up tour as she is hospitalized amid her struggle with ovarian cancer.

AceShowbiz - Scottish funnywoman Janey Godley - who won huge acclaim for her comedy sketches during the COVID pandemic - has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

The comedian's clips, featuring her own funny soundtrack to First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon's coronavirus news briefings, went viral during the health crisis and she was amid a stand-up tour when she received the shocking news.

"I have ovarian cancer and I am sorry the last weekend of the tour has been cancelled," she wrote on Instagram on Saturday (19Nov21), alongside a video of her in a hospital bed.

"I'm really sorry, but I can't make the Musselburgh and Edinburgh shows this weekend...," she said.

"The tour has been so brilliant and successful, but unfortunately I was doing the tour while unbeknownst to be I had ovarian cancer. I just got checked out yesterday."

Godley received the diagnosis on Thursday after suffering from a bloated feeling in her stomach.

She said she had "done nothing but cry and cry and cry" since the diagnosis but thanked staff at Britain's "brilliant" National Health System and urged fans to be vigilant about the disease.

"If you have any symptoms like I had, which was I felt as though I was full before I was eating a meal, I felt as though I had no real energy and there was a big bloatingness inside my stomach, I got it checked out and it's ovarian cancer," she shared.

And on Sunday, she thanked her followers for their well wishes.

"People have been so amazing, thanks to everyone supporting me and my family, I don't know if I am going to be brave or humble or strong or whatever- I know I am grateful for all the love...," she penned.

Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, "Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh, comedian Jonny Vegas, and former "Communards" star, the Reverend Richard Coles, are among the stars sending Janey their best wishes for her cancer battle.
