The 'Picking Up the Pieces' singer opens up on the realities of childbirth, recalling the infection, pain, and exhaustion she suffered after delivering her first child.

AceShowbiz - Paloma Faith struggled to walk properly for three months after welcoming her first child via emergency C-section.

The singer is mum to two daughters - aged four and nine months - with partner Leyman Lahcine and, in a candid Instagram post, she insisted the "exhaustion was ridiculous" as she opened up on the realities of childbirth.

Alongside a black and white snap of herself breastfeeding her first daughter, she penned, "My own first birth and postpartum journey was far from the rosy scenes you see on screen and online."

"21 active hours of labour, an emergency C-section that resulted in me not being able to walk properly for three months, and the exhaustion was ridiculous."

"Add on a new-born baby piranha setting my nipples on fire and a uterine infection and you've got a memory you will never forget!"

The "Gold" singer concluded, "Not enough women are prepared for the realities of childbirth and postpartum and that's why I'm jumping in with Frida to lead a movement to encourage open conversations about real birth stories."

"It's time to challenge the social media perfection posts - let's start sharing what really goes down!"

The "Picking Up the Pieces" star underwent emergency C-sections for both of her births and has since advocated in highlighting the real realities of childbirth to expectant parents.
