AceShowbiz - Gal Gadot isn't going to play nice for her next movie role. The Israeli-born beauty is set to villainize Snow White in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairytale.
The actress, best known for her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the DCEU, is in final talks to play Evil Queen in the new "Snow White" movie, Deadline reports. Should the deal be sealed, she will star opposite Rachel Zegler, who was cast as the titular character last June.
The live-action remake has "The Amazing Spider-Man" helmer Marc Webb on board as director. No scriptwriter is attached to the project just yet, but the movie is said to expand upon the story and music from the original.
Marc Platt is serving as a producer alongside Oscar- and Tony-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul ("La La Land", "The Greatest Showman" and "Dear Evan Hansen") who are writing new music for the film. Production is expected to begin in 2022.
"Snow White" follows an orphaned princess living with her Evil Queen stepmother who attempts to poison her. With the help of seven dwarfs, Snow White escapes the queen and eventually finds love, living happily ever after.
Disney has been developing a live-action remake of its classic animated musical fantasy film since 2016. Other remakes currently in the works include "The Little Mermaid (2022)" starring Halle Bailey, "Pinocchio (2021)" starring Tom Hanks and "Lilo & Stitch" directed by Jon M. Chu.
Given her antagonist role in "Snow White", Gadot will have a chance to show her wicker side after rising to international fame with her role as DC's superhero Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", "Wonder Woman" and its sequel "Wonder Woman 1984" as well as "Justice League". She will be next seen in "Red Notice", in which she stars alongside Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
