More than 10 years after the 'Right Now (Na Na Na)' singer seemingly unknowingly gave the 'Choppa Choppa Down' rapper a fake watch as a birthday gift, the latter says he's 'still waiting for the real one.'

AceShowbiz - While hip-hop stars often treat one another to some luxury items, French Montana was once left disappointed with Akon's gift to him. In a new interview with DJ Akademiks, the Bad Boys artist recounted the moment he found out that a watch the "Right Now (Na Na Na)" hitmaker gave to him for his birthday was fake.

"He had given me a Hublot so it wasn't iced out," French began his story. At first, the Moroccan-born star didn't realize that it was fake until he brought it to a jeweler. "And you know, I like s**t with diamond son it, so I took it to my jeweler," he admitted.

The "Unforgettable" rhymer went on sharing, "I was like, 'Yo, can you switch this for me? Akon gave it to me for my birthday.' He looked at me and was like, 'What you mean? Akon did not give you this, my guy.' "

French later confronted Akon for the fake watch gift. "So I call him and said, 'Kon, my jeweler said this is fake. Say it ain't so.' He was like, 'What?! Let me call the jeweler,' " he recalled. While he called Akon "my guy," he added that he is "still waiting for the real one."

This isn't the first time French revealed that Akon had given him a fake watch. Back in 2017, when he visited Hot 97 to sit down with Funkmaster Flex, he brought up the same story as exclaiming, "Shouts to Akon, he gave me a fake watch for my birthday, I'm heated," explaining that it had been 10 years since the incident.

French recalled Akon told him, "Close your eyes, I got a present for you," then put a fake watch on his arm. At the time, the 36-year-old said he took the watch to his jeweler to get it cleaned when the jeweler told him that it was fake. When he told Akon about it, the Senegalese-American singer allegedly reacted, "Oh my God, he might have sold it to me fake!"
