The 'By the Way, I Forgive You' singer is bummed as the Recording Academy considers her single 'Right On Time' a pop song for the upcoming Grammy Awards.

AceShowbiz - Brandi Carlile is "disappointed" that her single "Right On Time" is being considered as a pop song and not Americana by the Grammys.
The singer previously won three Grammy Awards back in 2019 for her album, "By the Way, I Forgive You", including Best Americana Album, Best American Roots Performance, and Best American Roots Song for "The Joke".
While her 2021 album "In These Silent Days" was recorded with the same production team, its lead single "Right On Time" is going to be considered in the pop categories, Carlile's representative told Rolling Stone. Additionally, "In These Silent Days" missed the deadline to be considered for the Grammys this year, due to its 1 October (21) release date.
Brandi responded to the change in a note on her Instagram page, which read, "While I'm incredibly flattered to be considered 'pop' as a 40-year-old crooning lesbian mother, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit surprised and disappointed to learn the recording Academy decided to move 'Right on Time' out of the American Roots genre and into the pop category."
"The importance of staying and working within Americana is greater than just me. There is not a moment where I don't view my role as something larger. I feel great responsibility in representing marginalised queer people in rural America who are raised on country and roots music but are repeatedly and systematically rejected by the correlating culture."
Concluding, she added, "Being recognised by the Grammys - in any form - is a great honour. I just want folks to know this wasn't my decision. Regardless, it doesn't change who I am or what my Americana community continues to mean to me."
