AceShowbiz - A non-profit organization for mental health has distanced itself from Jamie Lynn Spears and her controversial tell-all book "Things I Should Have Said". The nonprofit, This Is My Brave, announced on Monday, October 18 that it won't receive donation from the book's proceeds following backlash surrounding the book.

In an Instagram post, This Is My Brave revealed that it decided to decline the donation following public outcry againts the book, which was apparently also slammed by Jamie Lynn's sister Britney Spears. "We heard you. We're taking action. We are deeply sorry to anyone we offended. We are declining the donation from Jamie Lynn Spears' upcoming book," the nonprofit wrote in a picture that it shared on the photo-sharing platform.

Further explaining the situation, This Is My Brave wrote in the caption, "We hear you. This Is My Brave was recently recommended to be a beneficiary organization for the proceeds from Jamie Lynn Spears' upcoming book. We have made the decision to decline the offer of receiving proceeds from the book sales."

Jamie Lynn first announced her book last week, saying that she wrote it to give herself "closure" on this chapter of her life as she tries to "share my truth the proper way." At the time, the "Zoey 101" alum also shared that a portion of her book's proceeds would go to This Is My Brave.

"I know how scary it can be to share personal struggles, especially if you don't feel you have the support or a safe space to do so," Jamie Lynn shared on her Instagram page. Of the mental health organization, the actress gushed, "They are doing amazing work to support and encourage people as they bravely share their experiences."

Jamie Lynn previously noted that she detailed her own mental health in the book. "I've spent my whole life believing that I had to pretend to be perfect, even when I wasn't," she said. "So for the first time I am opening up about my own mental health, because this process challenged me to have to be painfully honest with myself, and face a lot of hard things, that I normally would have just glossed right over, like I was taught to."

However, many were not impressed by Jamie Lynn's plan to release a tell-all book as many believed that she and Britney's other family members stayed silent while the pop star was struggling under her father Jamie Spears' conversatorship. The "Toxic" hitmaker even appeared to diss Jamie Lynn in an Instagram post on October 12, writing, "Psssssss also great news … I'm thinking of releasing a book next year but I'm having issues coming up with a title so maybe my fans could help !!!! Option #1 … 'S**t, I really don't know' Option #2 … 'I really care what people think.' "
