According to the 'Beasts of No Nation' actor, his British hit TV series is adapted for the big screen because of the hype surrounding the push to have him appointed to be the new 007 agent.

AceShowbiz - Idris Elba credits speculation he could be the next James Bond for bringing "Luther" to the big screen.
The actor will reprise his role as DCI John Luther in a feature-length version of the hit BBC drama, with filming set to begin next month (Nov21).
Speaking on the Spotify podcast "Who We Be TALKS", Idris admitted rumours he's set to take over Daniel Craig as the next 007 inspired the move.
"The writer, Neil Cross, and I had this ambition about four years ago and it really came from those Bond rumours, with everyone wanting to see me in a film in the central position like that," he shared.
"That's where Neil and I sat down and looked at Luther and thought, 'That could be a sick film if we could make that happen.' "
The star returned the gym to beef up for the movie, adding, "I'm training for it at the moment and start work on it 1 November."
Luther ran for five series from 2010 to 2019.
Idris Elba is among fans favorites like Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Tom Hiddleston, Rege-Jean Page, Henry Golding, David Oyelowo, Dev Patel, James Norton, Damian Lewis, George McKay, and Sam Heughan to be the new 007 agent after "No Time to Die".
While James Bond bosses insisted the search for the new 007 agent would only begin in 2022, the stars of the latest movie including Daniel Craig, Lashana Lynch, and Lea Seydoux expressed their reluctance to see the super spy turned into female in the next installment.
Ben Whishaw, however, is keen to see a gay James Bond. He even endorsed Jonathan Bailey and Luke Evans.
