The Coldplay lead vocalist reveals in a new interview that his mother Alison is battling Covid-19 while he and bandmates are busy promoting their new studio album.

AceShowbiz - Chris Martin's mum has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Coldplay frontman is busy promoting the band's ninth studio album "Music of the Spheres", which is out on Friday and features collaborations with BTS and Selena Gomez.

Speaking on "The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show" on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, the singer revealed Alison tested "COVID positive this week" and was resting up at home.

Admitting she has an "interesting relationship with our songs," Chris said, "The way she told me she really liked (album track) Human Heart - I hope it's ok to say this on the radio..."

"She said, 'You're not going to make a video for that Human Heart song are you?' I said, 'I don't think so,' and she said, 'Good, because it's really good.' I said, 'Are you trying to say that you really like the song?' "

The album is a family affair with Chris' kids Apple and Moses both appearing on the LP. Moses lends vocals to the chorus of "Humankind" while Apple co-wrote the Selena Gomez collaboration "Let Somebody Go".

The band will soon hit the road to promote the album. They promised they would be eco-friendly for the upcoming jaunt, planning to cut emissions by 50 per cent compared to their previous live shows.

"We're very conscious that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we've spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour's potential to push things forward," they said in a statement.
