After the coroner's office confirms that the former child actor committed suicide by using sodium nitrate, his mother admits to having discovered trail of her son's search about the substance on Internet.

AceShowbiz - Matthew Mindler's cause of death has been revealed, giving away more harrowing details of his final days. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office and Forensic Center confirmed on Thursday, October 15 that the former child actor died from suicide by sodium nitrate toxicity.

Sodium nitrate is used to preserve foods. On a living human being, it causes low blood pressure and limiting the flow of oxygen to the body that can turn out fatal. While sodium nitrate deaths are often accidental, it's not the case in Matthew's passing.

Matthew's mother Monica Mindler admitted to having discovered trail of her son's search about the substance on Internet before he went missing and found dead in August. Monica told TMZ that while she looked up at her son's search histories after his death, she found out that he was looking up information on how to buy sodium nitrate and how it is used to end life painlessly.

Monica said Matthew ordered the product on Amazon, where it sells at just $15. She said the amount her son purchased was enough to kill 4 people. Monica said she wasn't aware that this was something the 19-year-old had been exploring prior to his death.

She hopes that her son's death serves as a wake-up call for other families who were not aware of the danger of the substance, especially when it is available on the market at such a cheap price.

Matthew, who starred with Paul Rudd in "Our Idiot Brother", was a first-year student at Millersville University. He had been missing for days before he was found deceased on August 28 in Manor Township, a community near the campus.

His mother revealed in September that he had suffered from "crippling anxiety" for years, but he didn't show any signs about having issues before moving into Millersville University. She said her son seemed to be enjoying his first week of college before he disappeared and was found dead.
