DC Comics to Present New Superman as Bisexual in Upcoming Issue
Movie

Speaking about Jon Kent's dating life depicted in 'Superman: Son of Kal-El', writer Tom Taylor expresses his gratitude that 'DC and Warner Bros. share this idea.'

AceShowbiz - DC Comics' new Superman, Jon Kent, son of Clark Kent, is dating a guy in an upcoming issue of "Superman: Son of Kal-El".

In the comic, out on November 9, Clark and Lois' child is the latest character to "come out" as bisexual after the publishing bosses made the same reveal earlier this year (March 2021) about their current Robin, Tim Drake, in "Batman: Urban Legends".

And just as dad Clark dated a reporter in Lois Lane, Jon Kent is also romancing a journalist, college friend Jay Nakamura.

"I've always said everyone needs heroes and everyone deserves to see themselves in their heroes and I'm very grateful DC and Warner Bros. share this idea," writer Tom Taylor tells The Hollywood Reporter.

"Superman's symbol has always stood for hope, for truth and for justice. Today, that symbol represents something more. Today, more people can see themselves in the most powerful superhero in comics."

DC chief creative officer and publisher Jim Lee adds, "We couldn't be prouder to tell this important story from Tom Taylor and John Timms. We talk a lot about the power of the DC Multiverse in our storytelling and this is another incredible example. We can have Jon Kent exploring his identity in the comics as well as Jon Kent learning the secrets of his family on TV on 'Superman & Lois'. They coexist in their own worlds and times, and our fans get to enjoy both simultaneously."

In the spring (2021), rival comics publisher Marvel introduced new character Aaron Fischer, who serves as the first gay Captain America.
