AceShowbiz - Walker Hayes captivated the internet with his single "Fancy Like" taken from his fifth mini album "Country Stuff". The country music crooner got everyone hooked as he busted a move with his children in adorable clips. Adding to the fact that the song itself is infectious with fluffy lyrics, it's a pretty much a recipe for viral hit.
The video with one of his daughters alone blew up on TikTok with over 7 million views. The fever quickly spread online. "Today" hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager even joined the craze as the duo attempted to re-create the viral dance, shaking their booties and throwing in a few dance moves of their own.
"Fancy Like", chronicling a drama-free life, jumped to No. 1 on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales, reached No. 3 on Hot Country Songs, and broke into top 20 on Hot 100. It became the singer's highest-charting single to date. He previously peaked at No. 9 on Hot Country Songs with 2017's "You Broke Up With Me".
The success tasted so much sweeter for Hayes because of his family. The Alabama musician said in an interview, "I have my first No. 1 on Billboard with a song that's completely me, through and through. That's the coolest part. It almost seems too easy because it was just me being me, in the song and with my family."
He added in a different chat, "It's nice to know when you put out something that honestly, I just wrote about my family. There's no pretentiousness there. It's just who we are. When you get to be that honest and the public reacts, it's a real magical thing. And the dances, that's just me being a dad. I mean, that's just how we roll around here."
Thanks to the "Fancy Like" popularity, the EP where the song resides quickly rose to No. 52 on Rolling Stones 200. The extended play consisting of six tracks raked in more than 11 million streams with "Fancy Like" amassing over 10 million alone.
