The 'You Broke Up With Me' singer withdrew from a scheduled performance at the 2018 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday after suffering the tragic loss.

AceShowbiz - Country singer Walker Hayes has cancelled his upcoming shows following the unexpected death of his newborn daughter.

The 38-year-old singer and his wife Laney welcomed their seventh child, Oakleigh Klover Hayes, on Wednesday, June 06, but suffered a devastating loss when she later passed away.

Sharing a statement to social media that evening, Walker wrote: "It is with great sadness that Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven. Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve."

The statement, posted to the musician's Instagram, went on to announce that he had cancelled his immediate upcoming appearances "to be at home with Laney and their children."

Hayes was scheduled to perform at the 2018 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday following a Breakthrough Video of the Year nomination for his "You Broke Up With Me" music video. But he withdrew from the performance in light of the tragic news.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hayes gushed about his wife and family, labelling their family situation "unique".

"My wife is amazing. She's my high school sweetheart. I met her in 11th grade. We've been on this journey hand-in-hand held tight together. She's incredible," he gushed to the news outlet. "We have a unique family situation, obviously, in this business. I don't meet a lot of people who can relate, but it works for us," he added.
