Celebrating Independence Day, the 'Dallas Buyers Club' actor sends the uniting message to Americans in which he says that 'we got to keep building and maintain hope along the way as we continue to evolve.'

AceShowbiz - Matthew McConaughey is celebrating Independence Day. To mark the special occasion, the "Dallas Buyers Club" actor delivered a patriotic message to Americans in which he stressed on the importance of harmony.

"Happy birthday America, as we celebrate our independence today, as we celebrate our birth as a nation, the day that kickstarted a revolution to gain our sovereignty," said the 51-year-old star in a nearly 3-minute video he shared on Twitter. Emphasizing the need for harmony, the "Interstellar" actor went on, "We got to keep realizing that we're a place where our individual perspectives and desires need to be appreciative and supportive of our collective responsibilities as Americans -- hence the United States of America."

Matthew added, "We're all in this together and if you don't purchase that, move on, go somewhere else." The "True Detective" alum went on to say, "So, as we celebrate the red, white and blue this weekend, let's just be sure to reflect a minute, take a little bit of inventory on where we've come from, where we are, and how and where we want to go from here."

"On the way to being the best we can be, now what if that was the song that each of us said, 'I can't sing that song,' " Matthew explained. The Oscar-winning actor continued to call for Americans to unite, "I want to be a little bit better, let's be on the way to being the best we can be, let's be on the way to making that a song we can't sing. We got to keep building and maintain hope along the way as we continue to evolve. Why? Because it's who we are, it's who we gotta be and again, the alternative sucks."

Matthew also stated in his motivational clip, "Let's admit this last year's trip around the sun was another head-scratcher, but let's also remember that we are babies -- as a country we are basically going through puberty in comparison to other countries' timelines -- and we're going to get the growing pains." He elaborated further, "And we are going through growing pains, this is not an excuse to say, this is just a reality."

His patriotic speech came amid rumors that he would be running for governor of Texas. In 2020, Matthew himself revealed that he "could be" interested in swapping acting for politics. In a recent interview on "The Balanced Voice" podcast, the actor hinted that he considered running for gubernatorial position. "It's a true consideration," he said at the time.
