Eve Hewson and Nicola Coughlan Vying for Irish Film And Television Academy's Rising Star Award

The 'Behind Her Eyes' star and the 'Bridgerton' actress are up against 'Wildfire' writer/director Cathy Brady, 'Herself' writer/actress Clare Dunne and 'Broken Law' filmmaker Paddy Slattery for the accolade.

AceShowbiz - Actresses Eve Hewson and Nicola Coughlan are among the contenders shortlisted for the Irish Film & Television Academy's (IFTA) Rising Star Award.

"Behind Her Eyes" star Hewson, whose father is U2 rocker Bono, and "Bridgerton" actress Coughlan will face off with "Wildfire" writer/director Cathy Brady, "Herself" writer/actress Clare Dunne, and "Broken Law" filmmaker Paddy Slattery for the top accolade.

Celebrating her nomination, Coughlan said, "It's such a huge honor to be nominated for the IFTA Rising Star Award, especially during a time when Irish talent is rightfully having a moment on the world stage. This means the absolute world to me and I couldn't be more grateful and excited!"

Brady has also shared her excitement over her nomination. "I am absolutely delighted to be part of this year's selection and huge congratulations to the other nominees," she said. "Also, just to say thank you to those who supported and believed in me on this journey so far. You've been the wind in my sails."

Aine Moriarty, IFTA's chief executive, shared in a statement, "This prestigious award shines a light on five superb Irish professionals who are proving themselves to be world-class talents, exemplifying incredible standards of Irish craft, skill and expertise on the world stage."

"As Ireland's Rising Stars they are a reflection of the brilliant talent coming through in this exciting phase of Irish creative growth and development. The Academy wishes each of them continued success into the future."

Previous recipients of the Rising Star Award include Saoirse Ronan, Michael Fassbender, Jamie Dornan, and Domhnall Gleeson.

The IFTAs take place on Sunday, July 4. Its ceremony will be hosted by Grainne Seoige.
