Travis Barker shared a surprising update about his fear of flying after 2008 plane crash.

The boyfriend of Kourtney Kardashian was one of the passengers of a plane that was involved in a deadly accident in Columbia back in 2008. At the time, the private Learjet he was aboard crashed shortly after take-off, killing four passengers and leaving him as one of only two survivors.

The accident killed his close friends Chris Baker, Charles "Che" Still and the two pilots. Travis' friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein also survived the crash, but died of an accidental drug overdose a year later. At the time, Travis suffered third-degree burns on 65 percent of his body and spent months in the hospital, enduring 16 surgeries.

Noticing the huge update, his fans quickly showered him with messages in support of him returning to the sky. "Wow bro! Strong move, but I never doubted your strength!" a Twitter user wrote, with another adding, "This is an amazing step for someone with your past."

A different fan replied to Travis' tweet by sharing the experience of being in a plane crash, "I was in a plane crash as a child. It took me a few years to fly again. I fly all the time now, but every once and awhile the fear creeps back in." The note continued, "Breathing helps. I hope you make it back up one day."

One fan also encouraged him to return to the sky, begging for his band's tour. "Please do! It's been my dream to see @blink182 play live for over 20 years," the fan chimed in. "As soon as @markhoppus is well enough, we need to see you in UK!"

Another follower suggested Travis' current relationship with the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star is one of the factors he might return to fly. "If you're dating Kourtney they fly private planes like cars," one fan pointed out. "It's in your best interest to explore and to find the strength to do this. Very admirable and trust you will be just fine! XO."
