The Seattle Seahawks quarterback immediately knew the 'Goodies' hitmaker would be his wife and the mother of his children when he first met the chart-topping singer.

AceShowbiz - American football star Russell Wilson knew singer Ciara would become his wife and the mother of his children within five minutes of meeting.

The sportsman began dating the "Goodies" hitmaker in early 2015, and they became engaged in March 2016 before tying the knot just four months later.

Now, as the couple prepares to celebrate five years of marriage, Wilson admits it was love at first sight - and he's really enjoyed watching Ciara blossom as a mum-of-three.

He gushed to E! News, "I would say (in) the first five minutes I met C, I knew she was going to be my wife and I also knew she was going to be a great mum, and I think that she's everything that you'd want her to be in terms of being so caring."

"She doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. She wants to be around the kids as much as possible and teach them the way she knows how to," he continued.

"I think the best thing is she loves with a full heart every day. Being around her for five minutes, I knew. I knew in that moment she was everything I ever wanted."

The feeling was mutual for Ciara, who had ended her engagement to rapper Future, the father of her seven-year-old son Future Zahir, just a few months before falling for Wilson.

"I also knew in the same moment - in the same five minutes," smiled the R&B star.

"I can say after the first time of being around each other, I knew he was going to be everything that I could have hoped for and dreamed of, just to be honest, and especially in the case of raising kids. I knew he was going to be a person that would be capable of it all. A man who would be capable of it all."

The couple shares four-year-old daughter Sienna and son Win, who will turn one in July (21).
