The former Rogue depicter recalls how her co-star and Wolverine depicter 'got put through the wringer' during the production of the first movie, but he 'never ever complained.'

AceShowbiz - Anna Paquin has born witness to Hugh Jackman's positive attitude on the set. The two became good friends after filming the "X-Men" movies and the actress has now recalled how gracious her co-star was despite being "put through the wringer" during the shooting of the first installment in the franchise.

"He got put through the wringer on that first one and never ever complained," the former Rogue depicter said on SiriusXM's "The Jess Cagle Show" on Wednesday, June 9. She detailed how harsh the filming was, adding, "It's minus 40 [degrees] and he's being dropped off some building onto his back over and over and over again. And still has all the time in the world to be a nice, normal person."

But Paquin managed to be a little help for Jackman, at least when he was filming a scene where his character was smoking a cigar. "I did," she shared, "at one point while we were doing the truck stuff in the very beginning, he had his claws out but he's also supposed to be smoking a cigar, so I did have to pick the cigar out of his teeth because he couldn't do it with his claws without causing personal damage." The 38-year-old then quipped, "But what are friends for?"

On how she became close with Jackman, the "True Blood" alum said, "Hugh was definitely my best friend on the first one. Then they actually started bringing in cast members that were close to my age, so there was a kind of younger little gaggle of late teens, twentysomethings." She continued, "Hugh was the person I was always closest with because I had all my scenes with him. He is still a lovely, gracious human being."

Paquin last portrayed Rogue in the franchise in 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past", while Jackman continued to slip into his iconic character of Wolverine until the 2017 solo film "Logan".
