The beloved American children's programme is expanding into a podcast series dubbed 'Goodnight, World!' in an effort to help parents get their children to sleep quicker.

AceShowbiz - "Sesame Street" bosses are getting into bed with Headspace's meditation and relaxation experts for a new podcast designed to put kids to sleep.

The new project, "Goodnight, World!", nicknamed a "sleepcast" by its creators, will feature 12 20-minute episodes hosted by assorted characters from the beloved American children's programme, including Alan, Big Bird, Oscar, and Abby. Headspace Studios officials will produce, while the show is written by Catherine Pond and executive produced by Otis Gray.

The audio series will incorporate wind down routines to help children get sleepy with a story set in multiple spots across the world as well as famed "Sesame Street" locations like Oscar's dustbin and Big Bird's nest.

Chiefs at Penguin Random House have also signed on to release a companion series of six books, titled "Monster Meditation", after the successful "Sesame Street" YouTube series of the same name, which has been viewed by more than 30 million people to date. The books will "help children learn the fundamentals of mindfulness, meditation and social and emotional learning," according to a statement obtained by Variety.

The first book, "Being Patient with Cookie Monster", will hit stores this month (Jun21) while the second, "Getting Ready for Bed with Elmo", will debut in September.

"Goodnight World!" is available now wherever you get your podcasts.
