The former 'Friends' star confirms his split from his literary manager fiancee after six months of engagement, following concerns over his appearance in the show's reunion special.

AceShowbiz - Matthew Perry is seeing no wedding bells anymore. The actor and his fiancee Molly Hurwitz have called it quits after dating for more than two years and six months of engagement. It's the "Friends" alum himself who confirmed the news on Tuesday, June 1.

Offering a brief explanation to the end of his relationship with Molly, the former Chandler Bing depicter said in a statement to PEOPLE, "Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them." Remaining friendly, he added, "I wish Molly the best."

Matthew and Molly began dating in 2018 and he decided to proposed to her in November 2020. "I decided to get engaged," he told PEOPLE at the time. He then raved about the literary manager, declaring, "Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time."

Earlier in the same year, Molly gushed about the actor in a sweet Valentine's Day post. "Second year being my valentine, but his first as an Instagram influencer," she wrote on her Instagram account, seemingly referencing Matthew's then-new Instagram account. "HVD to my favorite."

The couple's breakup news arrives just days after Matthew sparked concerns anew following his appearance in "Friends" reunion special, which premiered on HBO Max on May 27. Fans noticed that he slurred his words, pronouncing an "s" as a "sh."

"Friends" producer Kevin Bright, however, has jumped to the actor's defense, insisting the 51-year-old, who has battled drug and alcohol abuse issues for years, is fine. "I talked to him [Matthew]. It was great seeing him again," Kevin told The Hollywood Reporter.

"What people say is what people say. I don't have any[thing] to say about that, except it was great to see him. And I think he's very funny on the show," he responded to fans' speculation. He then reiterated, "I think he's OK. He seems stronger and better since the last time I saw him, and excited about going forward."
