The actress who played over-the-top fashion designer Baroness in the '101 Dalmatians' prequel credits makeup designer Naomi Donne for helping her shape her 'real meanies' character.

AceShowbiz - Emma Thompson channeled fellow British actress Joan Collins to get into character for "Cruella", noting the veteran has played some "real meanies."

Emma plays the wicked Baroness - an over the top fashion designer, who becomes the title character's boss and nemesis - in the "101 Dalmatians" prequel, which was released in cinemas on Friday, May 28.

And while she was working on making her character truly scene-stealing, Thompson dreamed up Collins' role of Alexis Carrington Colby in 1980s TV soap "Dynasty" - a woman who was forever getting into cat fights with her own nemesis, Krystle Carrington, portrayed by Linda Evans.

"My wonderful makeup designer, Naomi Donne, actually drew quite a lot from darling Joan Collins, who couldn't be nicer but who's played some real meanies," Thompson told Variety. "She has wonderful narcissism, and of course, that's what Baroness has got to the nth degree. She's dreadful."

Elsewhere in the interview, Thompson talked about her favorite "Cruella" look. Choosing the dress that she wears on the back of the garbage truck, she stated, "The thing that I loved about it was that it was real. This skirt was actually attached to her, it wasn't CGI'ed, they drove off fast and they did that amazing fishtail thing for real on camera. I was there to see it, and it was epic."

Her co-star Emma Stone, in the meantime, opened up about exploring the iconic villain's backstory in the movie. "I thought that this was a really exciting and interesting reimagining of a character that we feel like we know on a surface level," she admitted. "It was fun to go deeper into what makes her tick and what makes her so evil."
