The 'One Night in Miami...' helmer appears to be flabbergasted when learning that she is rumored to be on the shortlist to direct the recently-announced reboot.

AceShowbiz - Regina King has responded to rumors that she is being considered to be a director for an upcoming Superman film for Warner Bros. and DC. Claiming to have never heard the news before, the actress/director appeared to be flabbergasted when she was asked for her comment on the reports.

Tiffany Cross of "The Cross Connection" brought it up during an MSNBC interview on Saturday, May 29. "I'm curious, because this is a little bit of gossip. You're rumored to be on the short list to direct Superman," Cross said to King. "You and Barry Jenkins, both of your names have been thrown out there," the MSNBC host continued, before asking, "Anything you want to tell us? Is there any news you can break this morning about those conversations?"

"Tiffany, that is news to me. You have broke the news to me," King responded with a laugh. "A news break, live on MSNBC!" Appearing to be a bit flustered, the "If Beale Street Could Talk" star added, "Yeah, no, I have not heard that until just now."

News broke in February that Warner Bros. and DC have greenlit a new Superman movie, with author Ta-Nehisi Coates being tapped to write the script and J.J. Abrams producing under his Bad Robot banner. Hannah Minghella will also serve as producer.

Plot details are currently unknown, but it's said earlier this month that the studio is considering to feature a black Man of Steel in the new movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, WB is looking for a black actor to portray the titular character as sources told the site that "Warners and DC are committed to hiring a black director to tackle what will be the first cinematic incarnation of Superman featuring a black actor."

Along with King and Jenkins, Steven Caple Jr. ("Creed II"), J.D. Dillard ("Sleight", "Sweetheart") and Shaka King ("Judas and the Black Messiah") are allegedly among potential candidates to direct the movie. Some of them have reportedly met with the studio, while Marvel is said to be vying for same names on the list for its.
