Confirming her departure from the long-running series, the actress known for her portrayal of Ellie Bishop calls her experience working on the show 'a moment in time [she] surely won't forget.'

AceShowbiz - "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" favorite Emily Wickersham has exited the drama after closing out the show's 18th season.

The actress, who has been a big part of the show since 2013, ended her stint as a regular in the season finale, as her character, Ellie Bishop, embarked on a top-secret undercover mission.

Wickersham confirmed her departure in an Instagram post, which read, "Hangin this hat and jacket up. What a great ride it's been."

"This cast, this crew, are top notch. I can't say enough kind words about this group that I've had the pleasure of working with for close to 8 years now and 172 episodes later."

"This business is finicky and weird and consistency is a rarity. I've been lucky enough to be a part of a show where I got to show up and act and laugh and learn with wonderful people. A moment in time I surely won't forget. Thank you CBS and NCIS for including me in a part of television history. Time goes fast. Eat it up but chew slowly."

Wickersham's castmate Brian Dietzen commented on her post, adding, "so damn proud of you my friend. Also, I'm gonna miss the hell outta you on set. I can't wait to see what you do next. Whatever it is, I'll be there in the front row. Thank you." Kasie Hines depicter, Diona Reasonover, chimed in, "Thank you for everything, friend."

Wickersham's departure came a little over a month after the long-running series got renewed for season 19. The new season will see Mark Harmon reprising his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
