AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has hyped up fans' anticipation of his superhero movie debut. While filming on "Black Adam" is currently underway, the wrestler-turned-actor has teased comic geeks by sharing another look at his DC movie's character.

The "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" actor made use of his Instagram account on Saturday, May 22 to post a new behind-the-scenes picture from the upcoming film. The snap gives a look at his character covered in a dark cloak with its hood on.

He stood under the spotlight in a dark room. As the shadow fell onto his face, his face was completely unseen under the hood, giving a mysterious vibe. Meanwhile, his shoes and one of his hands peeked from behind his asymmetrical cloak.

In the caption, Johnson gave a quick rundown of Black Adam's dark and gritty background. "If you know the comic book mythology, then you know where his pain comes from," he began his explanation. "His rage. His wife and children killed. His people brutally enslaved."

He added of his character, whom he previously described as "a rebellious, one of a kind superhero," "He is not a superhero, but rather a champion. Champion of the poor and beaten down. Champion of the people. And he is the most unstoppable force in the DC UNIVERSE."

On the same day, Johnson also posted a picture of the movie's set, which shows what looks like ruins. "Wanted to show you guys this cool shot of our enormous sound stages and massive production efforts and scale," he teased.

"We're hitting our midway point stride and our A-Team production crew continue to showcase why they're the best in our industry. This is one inspiring production to be on," the 49-year-old star went on gushing. "The hierarchy of power in the DC UNIVERSE is about to change."

While Johnson takes on the titular role in "Black Adam", Noah Centineo has been cast as another superhero, Atom Smasher, who is a member of the Justice Society of America (JSA). Aldis Hodge stars as Hawkman, Sarah Shahi portrays university professor and resistance fighter in Kahndaq named Adrianna Tomaz, Quintessa Swindell is cast as JSA member Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan portrays another JSA member, Kent Nelson a.k.a. Doctor Fate.

The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and planned to be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures in U.S. theaters starting July 29, 2022.
