The 'Lois and Clark' actor, who is an outspoken conservative, has come under fire after defending police and complaining that Superman can't say 'the American way' today.

AceShowbiz - Dean Cain may once play one of the most favorite superheroes, but it doesn't make him a likable person. The actor, best known for his portrayal of Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman on TV series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", has come under fire after defending police and speaking out against cancel culture that won't allow Superman to say his catchphrase today.
The 53-year-old said on "Fox & Friends" on Thursday, July 2 while criticizing a Time magazine article that reassessed superheroes amid police brutality protests. "This is insane to me, though, because these people will scream anti-police rhetoric all day long but when their life is threatened and they need a hero, they will dial 9-1-1 and a police officer will show up. Because police officers are heroes," he claimed.
"Now yes, there have been some bad apples. There's been some bad situations. But 99.9 percent of all police officers are fantastic," the Donald Trump supporter, who is now a reserve officer for the Pocatello Police Department in Idaho, added. "[Cops] are there to serve and protect and they do a fantastic job."
He went on complaining about cancel culture. "This whole cancel culture thing we're living in right now is crazy, it's like an early version of George Orwell's 1984. Up is down, war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength," he said, adding that "as Superman" today, he "wouldn't be allowed" to say Superman's catchphrase, "truth, justice and the American way."
Twitter has soon erupted with reactions to Dean's remarks about Superman, with one pointing out, "Superman is an immigrant adopted by a working class family whose archnemesis is a greedy tech billionaire, written by two Jewish Americans in direct response to the global rise of fascism. So no, Dean Cain should probably not play Superman today."
"Is Dean Cain aware that Superman is not even American?" another tweeted, disagreeing with Dean. A third user echoed the sentiment, "Funny because Superman is undocumented and has a uber wealthy businessman as his mortal enemy so ya'know..... eat s**t Dean Cain."
Believing that Dean has a wrong idea about Superman, a fourth person responded, "Dean Cain played a character who was a literal alien who managed to bypass the Great Wall of the USA and live under an assumed identity. Did he even pay taxes?! Superman would have been deported under trump's current regime."
"Dean Cain is b***hing about Superman not being able to say the American Way anymore. What does the AMERICAN WAY mean? Ignoring science, treating BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ community like trash, a bad healthcare system and endless wars? Why would Superman believe in the American Way?" another rhetorically asked.
"Superman wasn't a liar. I promise you, Dean Cain today wouldn't be allowed to play Superman," read another comment, while someone else slammed the former host of "Ripley's Believe It or Not!", "Dean Cain is the Eric Trump of Supermans."
