The 'Hurt Like Hell' singer is sorry after landing in hot water for admitting to romanticizing a taboo relationship in Vladimir Nabokov's novel and a serial killer in Thomas Harris' book.

AceShowbiz - "Selfish" singer Madison Beer has apologised to fans after admitting to "romanticising" Vladimir Nabokov's novel "Lolita" - about a middle-aged literature professor who is obsessed with a 12-year-old girl.

The star's comments came after a fan questioned Beer over whether she had romanticised the relationship between the characters in Russian-American Nabokov's 1955 novel, to which the singer confessed she had, explaining she saw it as a "taboo relationship."

However, after being called out by her followers, things got worse for the star when she also said she romanticised Dr. Hannibal Lecter - a fictional cannibalistic serial killer in a series of suspense novels by Thomas Harris.

"He's a charecater (sic) in a movie that is not real.. i don't romanticize KILLERS in real life .. it's a fake made up thing," she insisted in a now-deleted tweet.

After being slammed by fans on the social media site, however, the "Hurts Like Hell" star returned to apologise for her comments, writing, "I love u guys & I'm sorry. i misspoke and would never condone innaproproate (sic) relationships of any kind. I'm sincerely sorry for it seeming like i do. let me make it clear - i do not. have a good night."

Beer also prompted controversy earlier this month, June 2020 when she took to social media to refute accusations she used her participation in Black Lives Matter protests as a photo opportunity, after a video circulated online showing her posing in front of a photographer atop a car during a protest in Los Angeles.
