The 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' actor proves his contribution to the fight in finding cure for the novel coronavirus by posting pictures of his donated plasma on social media.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hanks has revealed that giving plasma donation is as easy as taking a nap. Weeks after recovering from the novel coronavirus, the "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" actor shared two photos that saw a bag of his plasma that will be used for COVID-19 testing and the process of him donating his blood.
In an Instagram post uploaded on Wednesday, April 29, the 63-year-old Hollywood star wrote, "Here's last week's bag of plasma. Such a bag! After the paperwork, it's as easy as taking a nap. Thanks @arimoin and UCLA. Hanx." One of the pictures he shared captured a bag full of yellow liquid.
Tom's wife, Rita Wilson, has also shared a photo of her smiling to the camera while her blood was being drawn. "A photo of getting tested for antibodies in preparation of donating plasma," the "Mamma Mia!" executive producer captioned the post. "Thank you Dr. Anne Rimoin at UCLA for the study you're working on to help patients heal from COVID-19."
Tom and Rita's donation came days after the "Sully" actor revealed on NPR's podcast "Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me!" that he and his wife have been asked to assist in the COVID-19 research by donating their blood. "A lot of the questions [are] what do we do now? Is there something we can do? And, in fact, we just found out that we do carry the antibodies," he confided.
The "Saving Private Ryan" star went on explaining, "We have not only been approached; we have said, do you want our blood? Can we give plasma?" Then, he couldn't help but jokingly ask for credit for the future virus vaccine, saying, "And, in fact, we will be giving it now to the places that hope to work on what I would like to call the Hank-ccine."
As for their battle with the coronavirus, the two-time Oscar winner told host Peter Sagal, "We had all of the flu-like symptoms. My wife, Rita, was a little worse off than me. She had a very high temperature. And we were isolated so that we would not give it to anyone else."
