The 'Wake Up in the Sky' hitmaker faces backlash for his insensitive comment as the world continues battling the disease and there have been more than 21,000 deaths caused by COVID-19 in the U.S. alone.

AceShowbiz - Gucci Mane didn't seem to embrace the spirit of Easter. On Sunday, April 12, instead of marking the holiday with a religious message, the rapper lashed out at his haters and wished them ill via his Twitter account.

"I pray my haters die of corona virus," so he wrote, without an explanation of what prompted his angry-sounding post. The tweet quickly garnered comments from his followers, who called him out for his insensitive remark, especially on Easter Sunday.

"Man you need some online church services and a hug. This is the worst timed tweet ever. There are people actually mourning the loss of loved ones now, due to the virus. Bad movie big homie," American mixed martial artist Gerald Harris schooled Gucci.

Another shocked user responded, "On Easter morning? this can't be what's on your mind. Our enemies are just reflections of the parts of us we hate the most." A similar comment read, "Never wish death upon anyone was that comment even necessary? Enjoy Easter with your family bruh and pray that wish doesn't turn on you."

Some others advised the 40-year-old star not to wish ill on others because it will backfire. "He's wishing death upon people on Easter Sunday? Better pray he doesn't catch a suspicious cough," one warned him. Another echoed, "What you put out there comes back to you. Y'all have to understand the words you speak are like fruit, you have to eat."

Seemingly not that surprised due to the "I Get the Bag" hitmaker's past criminal records, another commented, "See! Prison does NOT reform people's minds. This is just hateful to even think. You NEVER wish death on ANYONE." Someone else simply wrote to the artist, "Canceled."

Gucci has not responded to the backlash and has not deleted the controversial tweet.
