Music

The sold collection, which includes 'Over the Rainbow' arrangements, has been found in a trunk the late actress left behind at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in the late 1960s.

AceShowbiz - A large collection of Judy Garland's orchestral arrangements has sold at auction for more than $30,000 (£23,460).

Hundreds of song arrangements, including notes for classics like "Over the Rainbow", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", and "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", were found in a trunk left behind by the late singer/actress at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in the late 1960s.

She had primarily used the pieces for her variety series, "The Judy Garland Show", which aired for one season until 1964, and for a number of stage performances, including at Broadway's famed Palace Theatre.

The case and its contents were later given to Costas Omero, director/producer of the Plaza show Look Me Up, and his daughter placed it up for sale via Nate D. Sanders Auctions.

The lot sold on Thursday night (February 27) for $30,599 (£23,930) - more than 10 times its starting price of $3,000 (£2,350).
