The 'Saturday Night Live' star admits he loves being in a relationship because 'it's an escape from life,' but declares that now he's 'going to try and stay away from that.'

AceShowbiz - Pete Davidson would not be dating anyone for a little while. More than a month after breaking up with model Kaia Gerber, the cast member of "Saturday Night Live" opened up about his past relationships and spilled why he will now put his focus back to himself.

In an interview posted on YouTube on Monday, February 24, the 26-year-old funnyman confessed to host Charlamagne Tha God, "I'm not dating for a while. Unless I meet the love of my life." When pressed further, he replied, "What can I say? I love love, but I'm pretty done with that. I'm going to try and stay away from that. It's just a lot."

Elaborating on his "love love" statement, the "What Men Want" actor admitted, "I love being in a relationship. I love doing stuff and Netflixing and hanging out, going out to dinner. I love that shit. It makes me really happy. Also it's an escape from life when you have, like, a partner. It's fun." He added, "It's nice to have a lady around."

When asked about his relationship with Gerber, Davidson spilled the beans on why it failed. "We were dating for a few months and she's very young and I'm f**king going through a lot," he reasoned. "She should be having fun and s**t. She shouldn't have to worry about some dude who has issues and s**t. … It just wasn't like the right place or the right time."

Despite the breakup, the comedian has nothing but praises for the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber. "Beautiful, smarter than me," he said of the 18-year-old model. "If anyone was worried that I was too smart or advanced for her, they do not have to worry at all. She was way, way smarter than I was."

Elsewhere in the interview, Davidson also shared what he had learned "in general" from his failed romances with Ariana Grande, Kate Beckinsale and Margaret Qualley among others. "I think you grow a lot as a person," he said. "I've learned a lot from the awesome chicks that I've been with, and they're all cool. So I think you just grow, you become a better version of yourself, because you learn a little something from everybody."

"I've been very fortunate and lucky to date some really wonderful, beautiful, cool, talented women and with that comes [drama in the public eye], unfortunately," he continued explaining. "So I'm aware that there's s***, but I do think that I get a little harder than most. But like, that comes with the territory."
