AceShowbiz - Lil Nas X has praised Dwyane Wade for accepting his 12-year-old daughter Zaya as a transgender woman, while urging the youngster to "stay strong."

The daughter of the sportsman, whose stepmum is actress Gabrielle Union, was previously known as Zion, and told them she'd "love for you guys to call me Zaya," the retired basketball player told U.S. TV host Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

"I looked at her and said, 'You are a leader. It's our opportunity to allow you to be a voice.' Right now it's through us, because she's 12 years old, but eventually it will be through her," he added.

Speaking to TMZ, Nas, who came out as gay last year 2019, had nothing but kind words for the father-daughter duo, insisting, "Parental support is always great, especially in circumstances like this."

And offering his advice for Zaya, the "Old Town Road" hitmaker, who was praised for speaking about his sexuality as a black, gay rapper, added, "My advice is, stay strong. It's gonna be hard."

When the "Rodeo" star opened up on his sexuality, Dwyane urged him to dismiss some of the negative opinions of fans online, writing, "Focus on all the good in your life. Don't allow these fools (to) get to you. It's a lot of us out here proud of who and what you represent (sic)."

Meanwhile, Zaya shared a message of support for other transgender kids, encouraging them to, "push through, and you be the best you and especially more recently, it's become more accepting."

Dwyane shares Zaya with his ex Siohvaughn Funches, whom he married from 2002 to 2010.
