AceShowbiz - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made their first joint appearance at a public event in the states after announcing their royal exit. The couple reportedly attended an exclusive J.P. Morgan event at 1 Hotel in Miami's South Beach on Thursday night, February 6.

An E! News source claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex kept their appearance low-key that night, coming through a private entrance. Video and photos of the pair at the event are likely hard to find as the "security was extremely tight," allowing them to avoid too much attention.

The source says the duo's appearance at the event was brief. "They did their speech and left before dessert," the source shares. "She introduced him and he spoke." Page Six additionally reports that "Meghan and Harry headlined the event as the keynote speakers."

This marks Harry and Meghan's first joint appearance at a public event since they announced their decision to step back as "senior" members of the Royal Family to "become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

"After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution," they said in a statement released on January 8. They added that "it is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment."

The couple plans to split their time between the U.K. and North America, which the "Suits" alum had called home before marrying the prince in 2018. "This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity," they explained.

Harry and Meghan have been settling in Canada, where they are currently residing with their son Archie. They're also reportedly starting to look at homes in Los Angeles.
