The power couple has just lost the respect of many Americans after they remained seated during Demi Lovato's rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at Super Bowl LIV.

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z have been taking the heat for their surprising move at the Super Bowl LIV. The power couple seemingly showed their support for Colin Kaepernick and what he's fighting for by remaining seated during Demi Lovato's performance of the national anthem at the Sunday, February 2 event.

As with Jay's decision to sign a partnership with the NFL, Bey and her husband's decision to not stand up during the rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" has sparked criticism. Among them who have voiced their disappointment at the Carters was Wendy Williams.

The outspoken TV host took to her talk show on Monday to slam the "Run the World (Girls)" hitmaker and the Roc Nation founder. While discussing the couple's presence at the big game, she said, "Jay-Z and Beyonce, you understand all eyes were on you. And you should've stood up." She then suggested that if they "don't like out country," they can leave.

Many Twitter users share the same sentiment with Wendy, with one writing on the platform, "Please rise for the national anthem." Another slammed the pair, whose daughter Blue Ivy was also with them and didn't stand up during the national anthem, "Wow...they’re acting like our Anthem means NOTHING."

"Beyonce & Jay-Z remain seated during National Anthem...That disrespect aside - she has sung the national anthem & performed 2 halftime shows, yet she couldn't find it in her to support Lovato who suffered through many struggles? SMH," read another comment.

Colin Kaepernick himself appeared to shade Jay-Z for remaining seated during the national anthem. The former NFL star shared a screenshot of an Instagram user's post that implied Jay-Z was being hypocritical with his move at the Super Bowl. "I though we were 'past kneeling' tho?" read a caption on the post.

Some others, however, have defended Bey and Jay-Z, and hit back at the critics, whom they accused of making a big deal out of nothing in an effort to attack the couple's reputation. "America should stand for them, NOT the other way around," one tweeted. "#WendyWilliams y'all doin the most to coon this #2020 straight outta Fox shame on you WW," another wrote to Wendy.
