AceShowbiz - Wendy Williams shocked everyone when she appeared to reveal in latest episode of her talk show that her best friend NeNe Leakes was exiting "The Real Housewives of Atlanta". According to a new report, NeNe herself was among those who was surprised by the revelation.
In the Tuesday, January 21 episode of "The Wendy Williams Show", the 55-year-old TV host told her audience that she had gotten a text message from NeNe announcing that she is quitting the long-running Bravo reality series. "I took a break between commercials, my office is right there behind the set. I had to go to the bathroom and so I looked at my phone between commercials. And NeNe texts, 'I'm quitting,' " she said. "I'm surprised I got it, because I have no service in my office, but I got it."
However, a source revealed that the text didn't even exist. "NeNe was blindsided by Wendy's comments on her show because she never texted Wendy saying that she was quitting 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta'," shares the insider to HollywoodLife.com. "She found the whole thing confusing. It was very unexpected."
The source goes on saying that the Bravo personality "reached out to Wendy after the fact in a text asking her to clarify what her comments were about."
Following the news, NeNe took to her Instagram account to subtly deny the reports. "WHO SAID DAT!?!?! #SMH," so she wrote alongside a photo of her on Tuesday, January 21. In addition to NeNe's denial on her Instagram account, her rep had explained the situation. Shutting down the rumors, the rep claimed to TooFab that it was more like to be a case of "venting" to a friend.
"It's been an especially difficult couple of weeks for Nene, and she was venting to her friend in private correspondence. Nothing has been confirmed or officially decided for next season," the rep said.
"NeNe has had a really tough few weeks," another source echoed the sentiment. "She's gotten a lot of heat lately and the fights have really been hard on her. It's wearing her down especially since being in a different headspace after dealing with [husband] Gregg's diagnosis."
