During an appearance on 'Strahan, Sara and Keke', Billy Porter spills that the get-togethers really made him feel like he was welcomed and made him feel at home.

AceShowbiz - Actress Tiffany Haddish hosted weekly potluck parties while filming new comedy "Like a Boss" to encourage her co-stars to get to know one another.

The "Girls Trip" star is known for her love of good food and she decided to gather her cast and crewmembers, including Salma Hayek, Rose Byrne, and Billy Porter, at her house every week to bond at the dinner table.

"Literally, the first day (on set), this woman (Haddish) was like, 'You coming to Sunday potluck?'" Porter recalled on U.S. breakfast show "Today".

Haddish explained, "I got this house and I just thought it would be cool to have everyone come over and cook your favourite dish or bring your favourite thing, and we all just spend time together, because the movie is about friendship."

And Porter really appreciated the dinner parties, because they helped him feel more at ease in his first big Hollywood role: "As a person who comes from the theatre, when you work in the theatre, it's familial from the beginning, because everybody has to be there all day..., every day, eight shows a week," he said on daytime series "Strahan, Sara and Keke".

"When you're on a film or a television set, if you're not in the scene with the person, you may not even meet them; you may not ever see them. So it really made me... feel like I was welcome, it really made me feel at home; it was fellowship."

"Like a Boss", which follows two best friends who fight to regain control of their makeup business from an industry mogul, opens in U.S. theatres this week, January 10.
