AceShowbiz - A$AP Rocky didn't regret his past controversial comments about Black Lives Matter following the Ferguson unrest. The A$AP Mob rapper stood by his previous statement, saying he didn't address the issues because he lived in California and so couldn't relate.

In response to his defense, The Black Channel called him "a coward" on Twitter. The critic wrote, "Any Black male who tells you he can't address white supremacy when he sees it because it didn't happen in his NEIGHBORHOOD is a coward trying to tell you he sees us as VARIOUS TRIBES and as long as white supremacy isn't knocking on HIS door then it doesn't exist."

They added, "I'll say this and be done. The problem with guys like A$AP Rocky is when you say 'I don't live in Ferguson. I live in SoHo', it shows your woeful ignorance. You live in AMERICA. There's NO DIFFERENCE between being in Soho and Ferguson. To say that is COSMIC level foolishness."

Many people agreed with the criticisms. One said, "That's his way of saying, 'I don't live in that area so it don't have nothing to do with me.' Ignorance doesn't have a face."

Back in 2015, A$AP Rocky sparked backlash for refusing to make music about police brutality following Michael Brown's death. "Why would I feel compelled to rap about Ferguson?" he said back then. "I'm not about to say that I was down there throwing rocks at motherf**kers, getting pepper-sprayed. I'd be lying. Is it because I'm black?"

He claimed it's not his job to address the issues, "What the f**k, am I Al Sharpton now? I'm A$AP Rocky. I did not sign up to be no political activist."

Instead of talking about the discrimination faced by black people, he would rather rap about women, drugs, and fashion. "I wanna talk about my motherf**kin' lean, my best friend dying, girls, my jiggy fashion and my inspirations in drugs. I live in f**king Soho and Beverly Hills. I can't relate," he said.

In a new interview this month with Kerwin Frost, Rocky recalled his jail time in Sweden last year and was not happy that people brought up his past comments when he was behind bars.

Following his arrest in the Northern European country back in July 2019, some people refused to show support due to his past comments while many rallied for him to be released so he could return to the United States.

"I thought I addressed that in the past and to be in jail hearing people still trying to stir up some weird s**t," he seemingly expressed his annoyance.

"What I will say though is in those old interviews I used to say 'I think it's inappropriate for me to rap about things I didn't help with. I felt like when it came to Ferguson, J. Cole went down there and he actually was on the news and he helped. I felt like he deserved to rap about it."

He continued to defend himself, "So when someone ask me that in 2015 I'm like: 'I just feel, personally, if I'm in SoHo or I'm here I can't even talk on that'... That's appropriating. ... It's not sincere. It's pretentious.' "
