While Warner Bros. is keen on bringing the latest iteration of the Caped Crusader back into the fold with other heroes, 'The Batman' director reportedly insists that his upcoming movie stands on its own merit.

AceShowbiz - Matt Reeves is not going to let Robert Pattinson's Batman go through the same path as Ben Affleck's. With the "Twilight Saga" movie series actor taking up the mantle, Warner Bros. is eager to bring the Dark Knight back into the fold and have him joining forces with other superheroes, but the director opposes to the idea, according to We Got This Covered.

As the Caped Crusader has been one of the most popular names in the franchise, it's understandable why the studio wants him to play a larger role in the DCEU. Words are WB wants "their movies to connect much closer than ever before and they want Robert Pattinson's latest iteration of the character to front a new, rebooted DCEU with the eventual 'Flashpoint' movie simply retconning everything that happened prior to 'Justice League'."

However, Reeves is adamant that his upcoming movie "The Batman" should remain separate from the DCEU and should not meet up with any other heroes. This way, Pattinson's Batman would avoid an over-exposure like what Affleck's version of the character had been through with multiple cameos in between 2016 and 2017 despite not having fronted a solo film.

In other news, Pattinson has revealed that he wants to push boundaries of the character as far as possible. "In terms of the character itself, I want to push it as far as it can possibly go. And I think Matt Reeves does as well. You can do crazy stuff with that part," the Brit told Empire magazine.

"The Lighthouse" star added that an R-rating would allow the makers to explore more of the movie. "The only thing that's more complicated is the rating. As soon as you make something an R-rated movie, you're freed up to do so much stuff," he said.

While first look of the character in the new movie has not been unveiled, alleged details of Pattinson's suit recently emerged. According former Variety reporter Kris Tapley, the suit will resemble artist Lee Bermejo's Batman design which is rugged and has more of a tactical cargo look to it. It additionally has lots of mesh inserts and buckles fastening things together.

"The Batman" will go into production soon, for a scheduled June 25, 2021 release in the U.S.
