The actress, who welcomed son Gene in May, discusses her birthing experience during an interview, recalling how she was struggling during the C-section because of her endometriosis.

AceShowbiz - Amy Schumer went through a lot to hold her first son in her arms. Seven months after giving birth to Gene Attell, the actress portraying Renee Bennett in "I Feel Pretty" spilled more details about her "brutal" pregnancy and her "scary" cesarean section experience.

Speaking on an episode of Dr. Berlin's "Informed Pregnancy" podcast, the wife of chef Chris Fischer shared how endometriosis complicated her pregnancy. "Just being off birth control, I have since found out that I have endometriosis and adenomyosis, so being off birth control was really tough on my body, and so I was in pain, I was in a lot of pain," she recalled.

"And I just was emotionally depressed for probably a couple weeks, and I was just taking it out on my husband," the 38-year-old comedienne went on. "[Chris] was great, I mean, with how awful my pregnancy was he was basically my home attendant and had to keep me alive. And he handled it really well."

The "Trainwreck" star's struggle, however, didn't stop there. During the interview, she also got real about her son's birthing process. "It was kind of brutal," she noted. "I was throwing up through the whole first hour of my C-section. It's supposed to take about an hour and a half or something but mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis."

Despite the difficult experience, the Season 5 contestant of "Last Comic Standing" found comfort in her husband. "But Chris was so great," she gushed, "we just stared in each other's eyes and he just held me there." She continued recalling, "Then they let me hold Gene for a good amount of time. I got to see him and hold him."

In the chat, Amy additionally talked about what led to her decision to get a C-section despite initially planning to give birth through a doula-assisted delivery. "It was a rainy Sunday and I woke up vomiting and was like the sickest I'd been the whole time," she recounted. "And I was like, 'I can't do this anymore.' I was so big and I was so miserable and couldn't keep anything down."

Amy welcomed her first child on May 5, the same day Meghan Markle gave birth to her son with Prince Harry. One day afterward, the comedienne offered fans a look at Gene through an Instagram post of her cradling the newborn while laying on her hospital bed with her husband kissing her temple. "Our royal baby was born," she cheekily captioned the photo.
