Talking about the leading man, producer Scott Rudin says, 'Luckily he is much braver than me and will be back and playing his full, remarkable show very shortly.'

AceShowbiz - Broadway's much-anticipated "West Side Story" revamp has been postponed to allow leading man Isaac Powell to recover from a knee injury.

Producer Scott Rudin has announced the New York opening of director Ivo van Hove's musical will move from 6 February (20) to 20 February.

"We're postponing two weeks to give Isaac the chance to recover from an injury to his knee, so that he can have the same duration of preview playing period we've always had scheduled," Rudin told Deadline. "Luckily he is much braver than me and will be back and playing his full, remarkable show very shortly."

Details of Powell's injury have not been disclosed, but reports suggest he limped offstage during his performance as Tony on Friday, December 20.
