AceShowbiz - Billie Eilish seems to upset a lot of people with her recent comments on Lady GaGa's red carpet wear at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. During an interview, in which she was joined by her brother Finneas O'Connell, she discussed Grammy Awards fashion.
GaGa's raw meat dress at the 2010 MTV VMAs was mentioned at one point during the December 5 interview. Of the topic, Billie responded, "Yiiikeesss." Some people, especially the "Bad Guy" singer's fans, Little Monsters, were apparently offended by the remarks and started trending the hashtag #BillieEilishIsOverParty on Twitter.
"Incest loving brother & sister find gagas 2011 outfit 'weird' @billieeilish can you come up with another joke ?" a GaGa fan account wrote alongside the clip.
While some were hating on Billie over her opinion, some others jumped into her defense. "y'all really trying to cancel a 17-year-old because of an opinion on something we all hated, literally shut up and get off twitter luvs, stream i love you," one person said. Of the incest comment about Billie and her brother, a user responded, "That's not incest, it's just a healthy sibling relationship but y'all aren't ready for that conversation yet."
"im not even a billie stan but all she did was say 'ew' to a meat dress and y'all cancel her but if you saw the dress on someone else before this and a huge celeb said ew y'all would laugh with them so uh," another one chimed in.
"First y'all came for Billie Eilish over Van Halen (she's 17), now y'all are coming for her over her lack of enthusiasm (as a vegan) over Lady Gaga's meat dress from back in the days--and now #BillieEilishIsOverParty is trending? Social media is rapidly eating people's brain cells," one said, referring to the backlash the "xanny" singer when she said she didn't know the band.
However, Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of Eddie Van Halen, defended Billie. "If you haven't heard of @billieeilish, go check her out," he tweeted. "She's cool. If you haven't heard of @VanHalen, go check them out. They're cool too. Music is supposed to bring us together, not divide us. Listen to what you want and don't shame others for not knowing what you like."
