On the heels of the rapper's controversial comments about his daughter's virginity check-up, two female Democratic politicians introduce new legislation that will make such practice illegal.

AceShowbiz - New York lawmakers are so disgusted by T.I.'s remarks on his annual doctor visit with his daughter to get her hymen checked that they want to bar such practice. Two female Democratic politicians want to make virginity examination a felony.
According to Page Six, state Sen. Roxanne Persaud (D-Brooklyn) and Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages (D-Nassau) have introduced new legislation that would forbid doctors from performing hymen check-up. They call it unscientific and abusive.
"These examinations are not only a violation of women's and girls' human rights, but in cases of rape, can cause additional pain and mimic the original act of sexual violence, leading to re-experience, re-traumatization and re-victimization," they said in the bill memo.
They want any medical professionals conducting or supervising purity exam to face professional misconduct penalties. If the practice happens in a "non-medical" setting, they could be charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony.
"It's misogynistic, it's appalling," Solages told The Post in a phone interview. "I was horrified to see this was happening. If a celebrity can impose his power to ensure his 18-year-old daughter gets checked, imagine what can be done in households across New York state?"
In a controversial podcast interview that has since been deleted, T.I. revealed he took his oldest daughter Deyjah to gynecologist every year after her birthday celebration to make sure her hymen was still intact. The rapper faced backlash, the podcast hosts were put on blast for laughing at his remarks, and poor Deyjah became the talk of the town.
The rapper defended himself in a sit-down interview with Jada Pinkett Smith later on, "I don't understand how that is looked at as being so wrong." He claimed he was just trying to protect his daughter.
In 2018, virginity check-up was condemned by World Health Organization and the United Nations. They described it as "medically unnecessary, and often times painful, humiliating and traumatic."
