K-Pop sensation BTS is also among the early winners at the annual show that is held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, winning Favorite Duo or Group - Pop/Rock Category.

AceShowbiz - The 2019 American Music Awards has officially kicked off at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with Ciara serving as the host. Several winners have been announced during the live show that took place on Sunday, November 24, including BTS (Bangtan Boys). The K-Pop group was named Favorite Duo or Group - Pop/Rock during the red carpet potion of the event.

BTS bested out other contenders such as Jonas Brothers and Panic at the Disco, marking their second time winning an award at the AMAs. Last year, the seven-piece group was honored with Favorite Social Artist. This year, unfortunately, the boys didn't come to accept the award themselves, though they sent a video message thanking fans for their love and support throughout their journey.

Later during the show, Chadwick Boseman took the stage to present Billie Eilish a trophy for her win in the Favorite Artist - Alternative Rock. Clearly feeling elated over the honor, she admitted to being surprised and shaking during her acceptance speech. "To be in this category, even to be mentioned in this category is insane to me," she said. "I grew up being in love with all of you -- everybody in this row, everybody in that row, everybody in this room -- and the fact that you guys are looking at me right now, that's crazy."

Soon after that, it was time to announce the winner of Favorite Song - Pop/Rock, which went to Halsey for her chart-topping hit "Without Me". In doing so, the songstress defeated strong nominees that included Jonas Brothers' "Sucker" and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' record-breaking hit "Old Town Road". Halsey couldn't be more thankful after receiving the trophy, calling the AMAs "the world's largest fan-voted award show" and expressing her gratitude to the event for giving fans a voice.

More winners will be announced as the show unfolds.
