AceShowbiz - The controversial ending of "Game of Thrones" that everyone saw in season 8 is apparently not the only ending that executive producers had for the hit series. In a new interview, star Kristofer Hivju revealed that the cast members actually filmed an alternate ending for the eighth and final season of the show.

"Well, we shot an alternative ending," the Tormund depicter shared to Metro when he attended the "Game Of Thrones: A Celebration and Panel" event in London alongside co-stars Gemma Whelan and Isaac Hempstead Wright. "That was mostly for fun but I don’t know if I'm allowed to tell you about that."

When asked about further details, the actor refused to spill more and just stayed mum on it. "I won't tell you!" he insisted, though he revealed that "it was fun" to shoot the alternate ending.

It is interesting because HBO previously declined to shoot another ending even after fans started a petition to urge the network to "remake 'Game of Thrones' season 8 with competent writers." Fans weren't exactly satisfied how season 8 finale concluded with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) returning to the Night's Watch and heading beyond the Wall after he killed his lover (and aunt) Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). As for Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), she was named Queen in the North, while her younger brother Bran (Isaac) was named king.

"I take all of the activity around the finale as, there are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show," HBO Programming president Casey Bloys addressed the petition back in July at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. "One I can think of is when you try to end it, many people have opinions on how it should end. That comes with the territory. A petition shows a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the show, but it wasn't something we seriously considered."
