A number of public figures offer support for the 'You Need to Calm Down' hitmaker as she is banned from performing her old songs at the upcoming American Music Awards.

AceShowbiz - Stars including Halsey and Todrick Hall have rallied round Taylor Swift as music moguls Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta reportedly banned her from performing her old hits on TV.

The star took to Twitter on Thursday, November 14 accusing Braun and her former record label boss Scott Borchetta, who sold him the rights to her first six albums earlier this year, of blocking her from performing her old songs at the 2019 American Music Awards, where she will receive the Artist of the Decade honour, later this month, and in a Netflix documentary about her life.

Fans subsequently launched a Change.org petition against the record executives, which amassed over 35,000 signatures in three hours, and stars have taken to social media to lend their support to the pop star.

Writing on her Instagram Stories, "Without Me" star Halsey slammed Braun and Borchetta, insisting, "This is just mean. This is punishment. This is hoping to silence her from speaking about things by dangling this over her head... It is her grace and patience in these moments that make her Artist of the Decade."

The hitmaker's close friend Todrick, who recently appeared in her clip for "You Need to Calm Down", added on his own Instagram Stories, "This makes me soooo angry."

Meanwhile, Lily Allen weighed into the debate, penning on Twitter, "Solidarity with Taylor here, this sounds awful, and people wonder why music hasn't had its #MeToo moment?"

Even supermodel Gigi Hadid appealed to the label bosses to revoke the decision, pleading, "Scott and Scooter, you know what the right thing to do is (praying emoji) Taylor and her fans deserve to celebrate the music!!"

Fans also began to use the #IStandWithTaylor hashtag, which quickly became one of the most trending tags on the social networking site.
