Pressed by his co-star Scarlett Johansson if he would revisit the character in a future Marvel film, the 'Avengers: Endgame' actor says, 'It's not a hard no, but it's not an eager yes either.'

AceShowbiz - Chris Evans is not sure about returning as Captain America, though he still feels an attachment to the character. The Hollywood hunk discusses the possibility of reprising the role in Variety "Actors on Actors" interview with his Marvel co-star Scarlett Johansson, during when he expresses his mixed feelings.

"Would you come back?" ScarJo asks her longtime colleague. "To Marvel?" Evans replies, "You never say never. I love the character. I don't know." Noting that his character is "an old man now" after the events of "Avengers: Endgame", he jokes, "Everything clicks when I get up, recovery is not the same."

When pressed further, the 38-year-old actor gives a serious, but still not definite answer. "It's not a hard no, but it's not an eager yes either," he says. He goes on sharing why there are a lot of things to consider before he would say "yes" to revisiting the character. "There are other things that I'm working on right now," he says.

The "Captain America: Civil War" star continues explaining, "I think Cap had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you're going to revisit it, it can't be a cash grab. It can't be just because the audience wants to be excited. What are we revealing? What are we adding to the story? A lot of things would have to come together."

During the interview, Johansson, whose character's story arc ends midway through "Endgame", admits she had no idea what the end of Captain America's arc looked like until the film was released. "I wasn't there for the last third of the film or whatever," she reveals. "I actually had no idea what was going to happen. I don't know how it worked, exactly, if it was scripted. It was such a beautiful cathartic ending, and I loved that for Steve. I think he deserved that. It was all his happiness."

While Evans is unsure about reprising the role, Johansson has been tapped to once again portray Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow in an upcoming solo film. The movie is dubbed a prequel and reportedly would be set after the events of "Captain America: Civil War".
