Back in 2015, the reality TV star was sentenced to eight to ten years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring that flooded upstate New York with heroin and cocaine.

AceShowbiz - It looks like Mendeecees Harris' time in prison is coming to its end. If a new report from The Shade Room is to be believed, the reality TV star is expected to be released earlier than expected after he was sentenced to eight years in prison back in 2015.

Sources close to the situation told the gossip blog that Harris could be freed from prison within this month, and no later than December 15. Should the report be true, that correlated with what his wife, Yandy Smith-Harris, said during an interview on "The Breakfast Club" last year. At the time, she said of her husband, "He'll be home next year."

She added, "Collectively [he's been away] almost five years... It's a drop in the bucket to a lifetime you have to spend together."

In 2015, Harris was sentenced to eight to ten years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring that flooded upstate New York with heroin and cocaine. The "Love & Hip Hop: New York" star was initially incarcerated in Pennsylvania but was then transferred to a medium-security facility in New Jersey, likely to be closer to his wife and his four children.

Harris said in court papers that he had used his time on the inside wisely, completing a substance abuse prevention program, classes on how to parent from prison and courses in money management, health and nutrition and public speaking.

Earlier this year, his wife Yandy opened up about their relationship while he's in jail in an interview with Rolling Out. She said at the time, "I didn't sign up for hard times or to go through missing my husband this way or being a single mommy right now, but these are the cards God dealt me, and that's what I'm dealing with. It's taught me a lot, and I see the growth in my relationship and in myself at being able to preserve through this."
