The 'Aquaman' actor shows his online followers in a quick clip what he did to get the huge bear tame around him and says, 'The things we do for our ART.'

AceShowbiz - Jason Momoa landed in hot water over his new Instagram video. The "Aquaman" actor was accused of animal abuse and called ignorant after posting a clip of a grizzly bear during the filming of Apple's new web television series "See" where he played a blind warrior.

Jason was seen feeding the bear. He put an Oreo cookie in his mouth and crouched still as the huge animal approached him and ate the sweet treat from his mouth. He burst into laughter as the bear slobbered all over him and he quickly wiped the saliva left on his face.

"The things we do for our ART," the star wrote in the caption. He explained it was a training for his TV show, "The bear needs to know your scent. So here's my cookie kisses big guy." He added, "Love you tag. Aloha Baba Voss," as he referred to Tag the Bear and his onscreen character.

He has since faced backlash online. "Disappointed, shouldn't be using live animals," one wrote. More disapproving comments: "Bears should not be in captivity," "Animals not for the playing," "It is not normal," and "Please say this bear is a rescue or summin as this is not cool."

Another wrote a lengthy note, "Curious as to why we are condoning the domestication of wild animals? What is this for? Why is the bear being placed in a position where it needs to actively go against its instinct? It's a super adorable clip, but to what extent has the bear suffered for the sake of being tame?"

The 40-year-old actor previously told Ellen DeGeneres that the bear he fought on the series was a real one. "There's no CGI on that one. That's officially a 900 pound bear," he said. "It has to get to know you." He admitted to being scared to do the stunts but "you just trust the trainer."

In a separate chat on Apple Music's Beats 1, he revealed, "I had to train to fight a grizzly bear. … It was a Kodiak bear. It stood nine-foot tall." He explained how to tame the wild animal, "You have to draw these perimeters. And you have to get it slowly close to you, and be able to interact with it."
