Despite it all, the show sometime surprises its viewers when they set some bizarre combinations for its host and musical guests.
The show once brought a star who was more of a trainwreck as a host, and seemingly thought it would be a great idea to have a drama-free musician for the episode. One other night, meanwhile, saw two great musicians sharing the 30 Rock stage, prompting the real musical guest to get overshadowed.
