Also in the memoir titled 'Me', the Grammy winner writes about Princess Diana, who died in August 1997 at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris, recalling their first encounter at a party in 1981.

AceShowbiz - Elton John has just released a new book titled "Me" in which he claimed how Queen Elizabeth disciplined her nephew Viscount Linley in front of him. The Grammy-winning musician wrote that the Queen slapped the son of her sister, Princess Margaret, when they were at a party.

In an excerpt published in the Sunday Times on Sunday, October 6, Elton claimed that it happened after she asked Linley to check on his sister, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones, who was feeling sick and had gone to her room to rest. However, Linley, who is now 57, refused.

"The Queen lightly slapped him across the face, saying, 'Don't -- slap -- 'argue' -- slap -- 'with' -- slap -- 'me' -- slap -- 'I' -- slap -- 'am' -- slap -- 'THE QUEEN!' " Elton detailed the alleged situation on his new memoir. The 72-year-old singer then added that the Queen saw that he had seen this exchange before simply giving him a wink and walking off.

"I know the Queen's public image isn't exactly one of wild frivolity, but … in private she could be hilarious," he continued.

Also in the book, Elton wrote about Princess Diana who died in August 1997 at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris. The singer, who was knighted in 1998, said he met the singer at a party in 1981 where they "immediately clicked" and "ended up pretending to dance the Charleston while hooting at the disco’s feebleness."

"She was fabulous company … a real gossip: you could ask her anything and she'd tell you," so he wrote. Elton sang "Candle in the Wind" at her funeral.

Following her death, Elton maintained his relationship with Diana's youngest son Prince Harry. He was also among the guests at his wedding to Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle and even performed at the lunchtime reception hosted by the queen, playing songs including "Your Song", "Tiny Dancer" and "Circle of Life."
