Through a post he shares on his Facebook page, the 'Chasing Amy' filmmaker reveals that Jeff Anderson, Brian O'Halloran and Jay Mewes have agreed to come back for the third movie.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Smith is set to begin production on a "Clerks III" movie, after convincing the original cast to return.

The filmmaker shot to fame with the original 1994 movie, and released its follow-up in 2006.

He announced he was writing a third instalment several years ago, but the project was cancelled in 2017 when original castmember Jeff Anderson pulled out.

Smith has now revealed that Anderson will return alongside co-stars Brian O'Halloran and Jay Mewes.

"It'll be a movie that stars Jeff and @briancohalloran, with me and Jay in supporting roles," he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday (October 01). "And it'll be a movie called CLERKS III!"

The star indicated that he had junked the previous script and is working on a "completely new screenplay that I just started writing last night!"

Smith also discussed "mending fences" with Anderson and Ben Affleck, who starred in several of his 'View Askewniverse' films, in his post.

The 49-year-old will release another View Askewniverse movie, "Jay and Silent Bob Reboot", later this month.
