AceShowbiz - Reese Witherspoon is to be honoured with the prestigious Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at The Hollywood Reporter's 2019 Women in Entertainment gala.

The accolade, which recognises "trailblazers and philanthropists", was picked up by Viola Davis in 2018, and previous winners have included Jennifer Lawrence, Barbra Streisand, Oprah Winfrey, Dame Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Halle Berry, and Jodie Foster.

Announcing this year's recipient on Wednesday, October 2, The Hollywood Reporter's editorial director Matthew Belloni states: "Reese has transformed herself from acclaimed actress to one of Hollywood's most prolific producers. She is a perfect fit to carry on the legacy of trailblazing women by receiving the Sherry Lansing Award."

THR announced Reese Witherspoon as the honoree of the prestigious Sherry Lansing Leadership Award.

Meanwhile, actress and director Olivia Wilde has been named the guest editor of THR's upcoming Women in Entertainment issue, and Charlize Theron will make an appearance at the gala on December 11 to present $1 million (£810,000) in university scholarships to high school seniors from underserved communities in Los Angeles, who have taken part in the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program.
